Terroir wine

Let's introduce ourselves. We are Florent and Nicolas Motz, two brothers from a winegrowers family based in Bernardswiller, in the south of Strasbourg. The vinyards covers 5 terroirs around the village.
We have created a range of Natural Wines from our parents winery. The grappes are cultivated in accordance with the organics specifications since more than ten years.

Our objective is to go to the end of the reflection started by our ancestors by developing wines without artifice from the vine to the cellar.

The soils are covered with oats, vetch, clover, phacelia and foraged radishes to protect and nourish our ecosystem. Most of the work in the vineyard is done by hand in order to be precise and to limit soil compaction. The immune defenses of the vines are reinforced thanks to nettle, horsetail, wicker, etc. Manual harvesting makes it possible to sort the grapes before being pressed and to limit their excessive handling.

The yeasts present naturally on the berries allow the fermentation of the grape juice into wine for a period ranging from 2 to 6 months. This phase is followed by aging on fine lees in hundred-year-old oak casks. During bottling, no sulphite is added to preserve the full expression of our wines.

We have also paid attention to the packaging which has been selected to be consistent with our ethics.

Our wines

Wine Brothers 2022

Wine Brothers is a blend of Sylvaner with direct pressing Auxerrois. They are associated with a maceration of Pinot Gris which gives it its shimmering color. The fresh grapes come from a marly clay soil.

Through this wine we wanted you to discover the complicity that unites us as brothers. It was created to be shared.

At the tasting, you will be swept away by gourmet aromas of grilled hazelnuts and peaches.

Dynamique, Minéralité et Partage sont les maîtres-mots de cette cuvée !

nature oubliée

Nature Oubliée 2020

The Sylvaner grapes, vinified without any additives or sulphites, were harvested manually from vines planted by our ancestors.
The orange color of this wine is the result of a 10-day maceration of the whole bunches before aging in oak barrels.

Its delicate perfume evokes notes of white flowers and peaches. On the palate, it reveals aromas of hazelnuts, followed by a saline freshness.
You can enjoy it throughout a meal, from the aperitif.

fut n'en bulles

Fût n’En Bulles 2021 et 2022

Natural sparkling wine made from ancestral grape varieties: sylvaner (50%), auxerrois (30%), pinot blanc (15%), muscat (5%).

The grapes are gently pressed without any input.
After a start of fermentation in barrels, these finish in the bottle for several months.
A fine and refreshing bubble is born from this natural process.

Citrus aromas explode on the nose then are softened by a slight roundness in the mouth. A possible slight deposit is due to the absence of filtration of the wine in order to preserve its authenticity.

Our festive bubbles can be served as an aperitif and throughout the meal.

Colline libre – Lieu-dit Freiberg 2022

The warm earth of the place called Freiberg, facing south to south-east, gives this orange wine based on sylvaner (50%), gewurztraminer (25%) and muscat (25%), a palette of very expressive aromas. This is due in particular to the terroir in mille-feuille of limestone and sandstone.

Its orange color results from maceration, with manual punching down of very fruity grapes vinified dry.

Its bouquet of complex aromas is composed of candied citrus fruits, notes of dried apricots and rose water. It ends on a saline note that will make you want to pour another glass.

Sentier Fleuri – Lieu-dit Grasweg 2021 et 2022

This red wine made from Pinot Noir is grown on the clay-limestone soils of the place called Grasweg, near Bernardswiller.

Its red color with ruby reflections results from maceration of destemmed grapes.
It is vinified in century-old oak barrels.
